"We visited for Sunday lunch and couldn't fault it. Portions were generous and the food was excellent. Two kids shared a small roast which was plenty. Staff were friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend." Tripdvisor 5 Bubble Review June 2025
"We absolutely loved our stay at Anchor Inn! There seem to be many activities going on in Hartland and the people are absolutely friendly, gleeful and kind. We were there while the inn hosted a Spanish night with excellent live music and great food. Our room was bright, friendly and overlooking lush trees. The bed was very comfortable. Clean bathroom with good shower. The staff and owners were absolute gems. They even picked us up from Hartland Quay (as we were walking the South West Coast Path) and drove us back there the next morning. Don’t hesitate, book for an authentic experience!" It is the ideal location, whether you are seeking peace and quiet, or an invigorating walk along the nearby coast path. At the rear of the pub is a free car park and a south-facing Sun Terrace with lovely rural views. The Anchor provides both free WiFi and free charging for your mobile devices, and a free pool table.

The Anchor Inn, late 19th Century.
The photograph clearly shows how much smaller The Anchor was at the time, occupying what had been just one house. The two cottages to the left became part of the pub and are now the toilets, the reception and The Crow's Nest. The original Tudor chimney can also be seen, with the pub sign attached to it. The Anchor Inn is within the conservation area in Hartland, so when the chimney was rebuilt in 2021, all the original stone was reused.
